 There are of course many degrees of fire damage.  But from a relatively small kitchen fire to the loss of an entire room, the cleaning process needs to be thorough.  

 A common house fire results in the burning of a wide variety of materials, from wood and paper to plastics and other synthetic items.  This soot contains  fine black particles, chiefly composed of carbon.  These particles are even smaller than dust and breathing these particles can cause serious health concerns.
